Someone stole a grain bin from a cantankerous farmer in rural
Alberta, and Valerie Stevens is on the case. Finding it should

more than sixty years.
She's a senior civil servant for Government Services and Infrastructure
Canada, though her name won't be found on any federal ledger. The
Prime Minister will deny knowledge of her existence despite his
habit of calling her apartment on a hot line to discuss the scores
of last night's hockey game with her boyfriend. She's been accused
of sorcery, and prefers to be known as an alchemist. Her primary
source of information about the preternatural world is the ghost of
a long-dead Prime Minister who Valerie not so lovingly refers to as
"Fifty Dollar Bill". Oh, and that grain bin? Well, it just fell out
of a hole in reality, crash landing on a busy Calgary intersection
at rush-hour.

city? The answers lay with group of corrupt cops who moonlight as
vampires, a zombie named Caroline, and of course, a two-thousand year
old dwarf troll mage. Things are about to get ugly for Valerie as she
